TOPIC: Scripting an advertisement

INTRODUCTION

You read the interesting story of the travelers in Mexico who mistook a local house for a restaurant and you have studied some notes on persuasive language and advertising.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

When you have finished this assignment you will be able to

  1. Identify a target audience and their need.
  2. Use strong descriptive words to describe a product.
  3. Arrange ideas in an appealing script for an advertisement.
  4. Deliver a lively appealing oral performance of your advertisement.

INPUTS

Use the notes you were given on persuasive language as a resource

LEARNING ACTIVITIES / TASKS

  1. Make brief notes describing a restaurant or guest house you wish to advertise.
  2. Decide who you wish to target as likely customers and list some of their needs.
  3. Design a short radio advertisement that must not be longer than 2 minutes. You may include music and sound effects as well as spoken copy in your advertisement.
  4. Practice and prepare your advertisement and present it for recording at school.

ASSESSMENT

This assessment will be pert of your oral mark for English and will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Audience appeal
  • Choice and clarity of information shared
  • Strong call to action
  • Appropriate language
  • Overall quality and impact

Each criterion will be rated on a four point scale from poor and barely evident to exceptional and well above average.

SUBMISSION

You need to have all the sound effects and music ready when you do your recording on Friday 3 July.
