LEARNING TASKS
- Visit the web sites in the learning inputs and make notes about the UNO
- Answer the following questions based on your research:
- When and why was the UN started?
- What are its aims
- Why did people feel it was necessary to declare and protect human rights after World War 2?
- Study the handout on the Universal declaration of human rights and answer these questions:
- Select 3 rights that you think are especially important and write a short paragraph explaining and supporting your choice of each one.
- Describe three ways in which you can help to promote and protect one of the rights you have chosen
- “Every right has a related responsibility or obligation”. Explain what you think this sentence means and say why you agree or disagree with it. Support your argument with a few practical examples.
- Design a poster or graphic of some sort to promote one of the rights you have selected.
- Describe one example today or in recent history where one of the rights you chose has been violated on a large scale.
ASSESSMENT
This assignment will count towards 30 % of your history and 30 % of your life orientation mark.
