An important part of your portfolio for school-based assessment is an extended research project.
This year a special theme being studied is sugar production within the agricultural sector as part of the economic geography component. We (the geography departments of Lifebridge and Advance for Life) have therefore decided that your research project should focus on sugar production as a way of reducing the amount of work to be done.
The research project requires you to do research on your own and to explore a specific problem or hypothesis. here are some examples of such hypotheses (but you may use your own):
Has sugar production been affected by the introduction of a sugar tax in 2019? Was the average net earnings from sugar higher or lower after the introduction of the tax. Were there any changes in domestic consumption vs export revenue for sugar before and after the introduction of the tax?
Where are the main markets for sugar produced in SA and how is it transport there?
How does sugar production use and source water?
How does sugar production impact the labour market?
You get the idea don’t you?
A detailed outline and guide to completing this project is shown below. GEOGRAPHY RESEARCH PROJECT(Research Project)
