WHO WE ARE

LifeBridge is an independent learning centre offering secondary education leading to the IEB grade 12 certificate and other vocational qualifications.  Learners work in small teams under close personal supervision of highly skilled professional educators, to research and solve complex real-world problems in a multidisciplinary fashion and engage with the wider community in service learning projects.  We use state of the art technology and learning methods and encourage high levels of responsibility and creativity in every learner.

Academic programme

For the IEB grade 12 certificate we offer a full range of academic subjects including

 

  • Languages: English Home Language; Afrikaans/isaXhosa
  • Life Orientation
  • Mathematics; Mathematical Literacy
  • Science Subjects: Geography; Life Sciences; Physical Science
  • Commercial Subjects: Business Studies; Accountancy; Computer Applications Technology; Tourism
  • Humanities: History; Design (subject to numbers)

In addition to the grade 12 certificate learners have the opportunity to obtain one or more of the following

  • Trinity Collage Certificate in Communication Skills
  • Learner’s Licence
  • International Computer Driver’s Licence
  • Level 1 First Aid Certificate
  • Various SAQA unit standard courses

Co-curricular activities

The extra-mural programme and sport and fitness skills are integrated into the holistic learning day and included activities such as drama, chess, sound technology, music group, photography and video production, hiking, cross country running, permaculture and community projects.

Ethos and character development

RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, EXCELLENCE- All policies are based on Biblical principles, the well being of all persons and effectiveness in preparing learners for the adult world.  Learners are expected to regulate themselves and to be responsible.  Educators act as coaches and mentors.  Leadership is shared and everyone plays a part in caring for the learning environment.  Learners are challenged through outdoor adventures and community-based projects.
